Here goes...
As you're on my site (and if it's okay with you) may I assume that something is ‘missing’ for you right now: life isn't as grand as you want it to be, you may be feeling lost, stuck and vulnerable.
Can I also be brazen with you and say, right at THIS moment (this second) you are in a place of seeking? I have no idea if this is the first time or the 100th time you have looked for help.
What I do know is this, if you have been here before, feeling this way, stop, pay attention to it.
When it comes to confidence: it DOES go up and down. And it happens to everybody, you aren't alone. I work with people who are tired of these feelings of lack, people who cannot move forward because of their fears.
And in my professional experience they use the word 'confidence' however that word can cover a million different possibilities of why the person lives life in fear.
Here's a few myths, the reasons WHY people don't seek help!
Mmm, the worlds inhabitants have (esp in the past 100 years or so) gone a little 'gaga' for self improvement.
Discontented people are buying information to make them: thinner, healthier, wealthier, more sexy, loveable, happier, authentic, confident, efficacious, more successful...you name it!
And you're right, the majority of people don't want to admit they need help! The truth is we all need people in our life who can offer us ideas, suggestions, advice, guidance and opinions (we don't have to use it) but many go to the wrong people!
If you wanted your car fixed you wouldn't use the butcher down the road! You would seek out someone who has the skills, knowledge, understanding and know-how of fixing cars. Why not do the same for your life? No shame in it, it actually makes perfect sense!
And for it being 'new-agey' that really depends on your beliefs and current experiences of personal development. See Myth
Yes, I agree that is the reality for many people.
Wait though, there are many people that think by reading another book, attending another seminar or workshop, their life will improve instantly and can’t understand why when it doesn't!
It's perhaps not the books fault, or the workshop or the seminar! All longlasting change includes a period of undoing of what you have learnt, and that takes time. It's possible to change and transform your life, yet, get your sleeves rolled up, you do have work to do.
That means 100% commitment, resilience, accountability, ownership, control, discipline, planning, massive action, attention, breaking through fears, and changing beliefs lead to change and transformation.
The whole field of personal and professional development is huge.
There are plenty 'ways' to choose from to transform your life! Here's the thing...experiment, play around for a while, choose what works for you!
Coaches will agree that coaching is the best, mentors will say that mentoring is the best, Neuro Linguistic Programmers will say their way works the best, Therapists will say their way works best...and so on.
There's thousands of methods and although they may differ in practice they all would agree on the outcomes:
To assist you, so that
If you have decided that you need support, help, resources, guidance, tools, tips and techniques. First, well done, that took courage.
Next, get specific about what you need the most. Sometimes people can pay huge amounts for a course or piece of training, when in fact they could have been given the information they sought in a one hour coaching call.
Search around - if you are going to invest in you, find the person or mentor that is going to get you quickly, who understands your needs and where you are coming from.
In my experience, some people forget the biggest key when it comes to building confidence, self esteem, personal development, success skills etc.
Which is this: nobody can do it for you. Know that in order to create a different life for yourself, you may have to get uncomfy and be committed to taking huge massive action (another reason for seeking out the right person for you, they will be your biggest cheerleader!)
