public speakingYou are totally there, in the moment, calm, cool, completely relaxed and at ease.

Sounds too good to be true?

Nope, it’s going to be easy.

Would you love to be one of those so-called ‘lucky’ people who is never phased by talking in public?

Yes? Great…help is here.  I’d love it if you were to join me on this 2 Day Workshop:

How To Speak With Confidence, Clarity and Purpose

(If you’re looking for a ‘how to pull a powerpoint presentation together this workshop is not it…this is about overcoming the fears attached to ANY public speaking. Keep reading below and I’ll explain)

Are You A ‘Fit’ For This Workshop…?

Yes, if three or more of the following scenarios apply to you?presentation skills edinburgh

Do you have to speak or present to groups or teams as part of your career?  When it’s your turn to to speak you can feel your heart pound faster and faster, you just ‘go to pieces’!

You have no idea how it all started.  At school? College? A previous workplace? What was once butterflies in the tummy has become a fear of horrendously embarrassing proportions?

When you speak, does it feel as though you are choking and/or crying to the rest of the world?

Have you ever had a stiff quick drink to calm your nerves and shaking hands? And it has maybe made matters worse rather than better!

In new social groups or situations (including interviews and networking) do you find it hard to strike up a conversation (and then how to keep the conversation going), you start to worry about how you ‘look’ and how you are coming across, building yourself up into a right old tizzy?

Are your friendships suffering? Because you have started to avoiding going places because of the fear?

Do you keep quiet?  You are terrified of saying the wrong thing, looking stupid or foolish? You blush easily and stumble your words and you think everyone in room can see how awkward you feel?

You can’t speak to anyone who you see as an ‘authority’ figure or ‘expert’ (perhaps your child’s teacher, a DR, a BOSS?) You just go weak at the knees and could kick yourself for not speaking up at the time?

Have you lived with your problem for a l-o-n-g time, and you know the fear is growing ‘arms and legs’, you want to get it under control, change it, so you can speak to anyone at anytime (at home, work and play) with confidence.

Yes?

Phew! Then this workshop is for you…

A little backround, I’m continually stunned at what I do today, (presenting, training and coaching) when not that long ago I was the ‘clam up’ gal! Even though ‘drama’ was the hobby!

I know (from my own experience) that other people may find it amusing watching you go bright red, stutter and struggle for the right words when the only thing you want to do is crawl away and die.

You and I both know how the anxiety, lack of confidence and fear feels, and how it makes you behave (not the ‘real’ you) it how it really crushes self esteem, worth, and your ability to interact and build relationships with others.

When did it start to ‘hurt’ for you?

For me my first school (primary) was fine, if you were to read the reports from my first seven years of ‘traditonal schooling’ every one of them is along the lines of ‘Dawn is such a happy child, could talk less in class, a very sociable member of the group’…blah blah blah.

What happened? Well, I reached high school, I won’t explain everything here, I could rattle to you a handful of events between 1983 and 1988 (must protect the guilty!)

They ranged from being ‘made to speak’, to being humilated in front of peers and the consequences of ‘getting the answer wrong’ with a sadistic Maths teacher.

What about you, can you remember the key defining moment?

How To Speak With Confidence, Clarity and Purpose is a two-day workshop, spaces are limited, to allow for personal coaching and one-to-one time.

Here is a little sampling of what you will learn and a few of the breakthroughs you will make…

How to wave goodbye (finally) to ‘fear’ that is preventing you from speaking with confidence.

How to stop nerves for good before speaking publicly (this can be done, others will teach you how to reduce and conquer nerves…let’s get rid of them forever, why leave them hanging about?)

The 3 things you have to do in order to get people to sit up and listen.

How to create meaningful trusting relationships with every person you are speaking to (1, 10, 500 – the number doesn’t matter, there are tools to help you engage with every pair of ears listening to you.)

What you should be focussing on before speaking (and no, it’s got nothing to do with planning and preparing slides or handouts.)

How to analize any ‘social interaction’ very quickly

How to get out your own way (why controlling what goes on your own mind will reduce any fear to zero.)

How to change how you feel about presenting and speaking publicly forever (why your beliefs and thoughts are keeping you locked in fear.)

Understanding fear (and why it is pretty useful at times) and how to make it work for you…it can be your friend!

How to communicate effectively with everyone in the room (it’s not just about what you say and how you are saying it.)

How to speak from a place of positive power (get grounded and you are half way there.)

12 little tips and techniques that will build your confidence and self esteem (in order to work, you have to learn them and apply them…no half measures.)

How to speak so that people listen and want to be in your company (why people are glad you are at a meeting, social engagement and event – you being there helps them overcome their fears!)

What to say if you ever have a ‘tumble weed moment’ (and a pile of other great tools and information that can help you build rapport with people and get them alongside.)

How to grab people with your first impression and leave them wanting more.

How to make contact with people (and get into their minds so quickly you will never again be stuck on what to say.)

How to participate fully in staff meeting and team events (without feeling as if you are being judged by your peers.)

Change every negative thought you have about a past ‘public speaking’ event (you can’t change the past, but together you and I can undo how you feel about it.)

How to deliver to other people the real you (it’s easier than you think and when you start to realise this is vital to your relationships you’ll be years ahead of your learning.)

Discover which words and phrases are immediately keeping you ‘stuck’ with this fear (and learn the three that will change your life forever.)

What to ‘say’ to yourself before you speak…repeated often it will become habit (no more building the momentum and WHOOSH of anxiety and panic before it’s your turn to speak…leaving you unable to breathe and with no idea about what you were going to say.)

What to say to people within the first 10 seconds (leaving them with the feeling they were glad they spoke to you and how wonderful you are to be around.)

10 Techniques on how to strike up a conversation with anyone…so simple the conversation will just flow back and forth (no more ‘what shall I talk about moments or feeling like an idiot.)

How to ‘just be you’…calm, relaxed and confident (the days of talking as fast a runaway truck are at last over.)

Learn the importance of building rapport with honest and quickly and HOW to do it (very useful for people you have never met before.)

How to be the person that other people come to for advice and guidance on how they can speak with confidence (this course is one you will share with others as time goes by.)

How to run your brain (before it runs you)…understand where all this fear is coming from and learn 5 tools that once you start using on a daily basis you will notice a massive difference immediately.

How to ‘win friends’, understand the importance of ‘the tools of influence’.

10 powerful solutions to ensure that when you are dealing with conflict or speaking to anyone your currently fear as an ‘authority’ figure you are speaking with clarity, purpose and passion (no more mincing words.)

Useful little secrets to get ahead in interviews, presentation and meetings that by the time you have to speak…they will be there (locked in your brain) ready to use on automatically pilot.

I promise by the end of the first five minutes you will be at ease and fully relaxed…you will get out your own way and be ready to learn useful, practical, simple techniques and tools to build your confidence to speak to anyone at anytime.

It’s not a ‘bum on seat, bore and snore, here’s 16 hours of powerpoint learning event’. Blech!

This is important: I have no idea what ‘type’ of training or learning environments you are used to. The methods I’ll be using will be a range of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming), Brain Friendly and Accelerated Learning, Empowerment Activities and theatre workshop. That may not suit you, so please be aware this is a ‘doing’ workshop not a ‘chalk and talk’!

Okay, the price!

The last time I looked a one day presentation skills and public speaking course, with no extras, it would set you back £597.00 (but that included a sandwich!) Or you could pay £2970.00 for a two day enhanced workshop and two sandwiches!

But don’t worry this full 2 day workshop will not set you back that.

In fact, your total investment for the entire programme is just £247.00.

PS You may have some questions…there are usually a few typical ones, so I’ll answer them here (if you have a question, please contact me)

When does the programme start? The programme officially starts as soon as you book your place.  You will receive an email with your first assignment! Your first one-to-one coaching session with me will happen one week after I close the date for bookings (or as soon as all the places are filled.)

Where is it being held? Edinburgh City Centre

Will This Ever Be An Online Event? No, not this one. Too much practical.

Is accommodation included? No, but your refreshments, materials and lunch are covered in the booking fee.

How much time is needed before the programme? There is a little preperation to do.  You’ll have a half hour session with me, a pre-course learning and goal questionaire and then the 60 minute teleseminar.  (You’ll also have the contact between you and your ‘buddies’ approx 60 minutes. And after the live event there is another two 60 minutes teleseminars.)

Why are spaces limited? This is a workshop not a ‘sit and listen’ seminar.  A large group would ‘spread us thin’ and that means not attention for you.

How will you teach? (Will I Be ‘Made’ To Do Something That I Don’t Want To Do?) Good question.  No, never, however may I repeat this is a workshop, a doing workshop! You may be asked to do something that takes you out your comfort zone, I’ll always keep you safe, however you need to be aware of that fact.

Can I bring someone else? Of course you can, yet make sure they want the course!  Just enter two places on the booking form.

Do you need bring anything? No, just you – I will provide all the materials before, during and after the events.  And yes refreshments and lunch on training days are included.
