How to Blog a Personal Development & Creativity Workshop

Join me on the 29th October (Edinburgh) ‘How To Blog’: create your own personal  blog, get creative,  learn a heap of new skills and spend time with great people.

This is not a techie workshop, it’s more a ‘playdate with your creative self’!

Is It For You?

Let’s see…

Do you read others blogs and thinkI would love to write and share about what I’m passionate about? How do they do that? How do they set it up? Where do they get their ideas from?’

Do you have a story or a passion to share with the rest of the world? Do you just love to write, or draw, or paint, or create?

Do you want to blog just for you? Do you think it would be good for you, you know, part of your own self development? Do you have a creative streak in you, do you just love the thought of sharing with the rest of the world. Fancy create a blog purely to share with friends and family?

Have you heard that blogging is hot for career changers? For the new world of work and job search? Oh, it is. People blog to ‘showcase’ their expertise to potential employers.

Crikey, do you just think ‘I want to blog!’

Are you thinking ‘I’m not a writer’, ‘I’m not a blogger’, ‘I wouldn’t know where to start’, ‘I can’t'!

Stop.

You’ll learn all the techie basics.

It will suit you if:

  • You have a passion that you want to blog about
  • You want to blog for your own personal development: ‘soul food’!
  • You are wishing to blog for career advancement or to use a blog to increase your career branding

This workshop is not for business owners or individuals wishing to make a profit from a blog, it’s for individuals who wish to blog for purely personal reasons.

What’s Personal Blog?

Well, you probably read thousands a year, if you’re online.

Personal blogs are everywhere. Some are purely pictures, not a word on them. Personal blogs are that, they are really personal — they are whatever you want to create.

And yes, there are some personal blogs that have become businesses, good businesses.

There are also job hunters/career changers blogging about the career the wish to enter, they write to show their expertise and passions to potential employers. Smart them.

People blog about EVERYTHING: places, people, plants, cookery, their pets, illnesses, places they have eaten at, childrens pasttimes and personal life stories and journeys, you name it, there will be a blog for it.

There are millions of blogs that are solely there because the blogger has the desire to share.

People who want to ‘blog from the soul!’

It’s a ‘play and creativity’ workshop.

Imagine at the end of the day you have your domain name, hosting, blog installed, linked to your social media profiles (Facebook!) and you have people reading what you have written and leaving comments because you have already posted to your new fabby blog.

On this workshop you will:

  • Play
  • Launch your blog
  • Build your blog (step by step)
  • Have fun! (That’s a condition!)

As well as the build, you’ll learn:

  • How to share your blog
  • How to engage an audience
  • How to write posts that get read
  • Why blogs die a slow death (it’s very sad)
  • How to plan your blog and give it some goals
  • How to make sure it’s seen by the search engines
  • Why blog, what’s in it for you and the people that will read it?

And the intangible can’t really express in words part:

  • Make decisions and going with ideas
  • Inspiring yourself and working on goals
  • Building your confidence (expression of self)
  • Highly effective planning (without realising it!)
  • Connecting and building realtionships with others
  • Allowing yourself the luxury of spending time on you
  • Learning new skills, that you can transfer elsewhere
  • Exercising your mind, yep, it’s going to juice up your brain
  • Get your creativity flowing (if you’ve been in the humdrums for a while)

By the end of the day you are going to be all up and running and releasing your blog posts, ideas, creativity, words and pictures to the rest of the world (if you hit the publish button!)

The cost of the one day workshop is only £39*, all you need to bring is your good self, your blog idea, a laptop, and cake!

Do You Need Any Skills To Attend?

If you’re IT terrified, then you may struggle a little, yes. If you can make your way round the Internet, send an email, upload photos, know how to bold, italic, understand Word and Facebook — you’ll be grand.

But hey, don’t let that put you off. It’s a creativity date not an IT workshop!

Extras

  1. At the end of the day, I’ll create a private Facebook page where you can hang out with your new blogging buddies!
  2. I’ll also set you challenges — to give you some oomph and some momentum. Maybe a little competition or two.
